About 80 miles north of SantaBarbara on Highway 101. {nid FN}
Known for its special barbecue: top block sirloin or tri-tip smoked over red oak (native to the SantaMaria Valley), served with pinquito beans (also native to the region), salsa, and buttered bread. {nid FO}
WesleySiebenthal wrote in on March 11, 2005 recommending Guadalupe as a place to go to find good bbq (and beans). Specifically, the Far Western Tavern. Take 101 to Main Street Exit, travel west approximately 7 miles. Head north on 1 until you hit 899. {nid IEN}
According to the Chamber of Commerce, you can purchase red oak at Albertson's and Costco. I'll have confirmation in a few days. {nid MKJ}
