Bourbon distillery in Marion County, Kentucky. Nation's oldest distillery at original site. Only distillery to be named a national historic landmark. Bourbon is handmade in batches of less than 19 barrels. {nid 1WU}

Robert Samuels made the family's first whiskey in 1780. In 1840, T.W. Samuels, Robert's grandson, built first commercial distillery. Reciped remained unchanged for six generations. {nid 1WV}

Bill Samuels, Sr. changed the recipe, replacing the rye with red winter wheat for a gentler taste. Current owner is Bill Samuels, Jr. {nid 1WW}

Bottles have distinctive red sealing wax. You can dip your own bottle when you visit. {nid 1WX}

Tours: Monday-Saturday, 10:30am-3:30pm. Sunday, 1:30pm, 2:30pm, 3:30pm (but no bottle dipping). Closed Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. {nid 1WY}
