Driving

(This may apply to Mexico in general.)

  • There are often no lanes, so you just have to roughly stay in the right place and go with the flow.
  • "Stop" signs are a guideline, not a rule.
  • People are pretty friendly overall.
  • Lots of roundabouts. Google Maps is pretty useless on these, so don't overrely on it.
  • Hard to turn around on highway, so look out for your exit. If you miss it, look for “Retorno” signs for turning around.
  • Speed bumps here are no joke! Much higher on average than in the U.S.
  • People don’t bother turning their wheels when parking on a hill.
