Head to Ulleung-do via Pohang or Mukho. Neither of these seem like great destinations, but Pohang seems more happening. However, the ferry ride is almost an hour shorter from Mukho.

Possibilities
Probably better to focus on the triangle between Seoul, Sangju, and Ulleung-do (essentially Gyeongsangbuk-do):
- Mungyeong Saejae
- Sangju (persimmon)
- Andong (Gyeongsangbuk-do). Famous for mackerel, soju, wooden masks.
