Vista does not officially support the HP LaserJet 1012, although you can get it working through some ugly hacks. Sadly, I don't remember how I did it, so I'm going to attempt to replicate it using the following links:

Getting the printer working through IPP was a pain in the rear, until Brion Vibber's [http://leuksman.com/log/2010/02/26/printing-from-mac-to-linux-the-cheat-sheet/ post] revealed the problem: You need to explicitly list the printer queue (which in my case is "/printers/HPLJ1012").

Vista

Vista does not officially support the HP LaserJet 1012. However, the HP LaserJet 1300 PCL 5 driver will work.

Mac OS X

Getting the printer working through IPP was a pain in the rear, until Brion Vibber's post revealed the problem: You need to explicitly list the printer queue (which in my case is "/printers/HPLJ1012").
