Vista
Vista does not officially support the HP LaserJet 1012. However, the HP LaserJet 1300 PCL 5 driver will work.
Mac OS X
Getting the printer working through IPP was a pain in the rear, until Brion Vibber's post revealed the problem: You need to explicitly list the printer queue (which in my case is "/printers/HPLJ1012").
