In New Mexico, between Santa Fe and Taos off of Highway 76. Known for its heirloom chiles, weavings, and Santuario de Chimayo, a church with a reputation for miracles.
I visited as part of my Santa Fe (May 2011) trip, and I acquired great knowledge of chiles. Pictures from my visit.
I bought a lot of chile from the El Potrero Trading Post.
