Ebbetts Pass National Scenic Byway. 61 miles of Highways 4 and 89 linking Arnold and Markleeville. One of only seven national scenic byways in California.

- Columbia State Historic Park. About an hour southwest of Big Trees. Living historic Gold Rush town. Largest collection of gold rush era brick buildings.
- Railtown 1897 State Historic Park. About an hour southwest of Big Trees. Preserved steam railroad artifacts. Can ride steam locomotive through Sierra foothills.
- Indian Grinding Rock State Historic Park. 12 miles east of Jackson. Largest collection of bedrock mortars in North America. Sacred to Miwok tribe.
